TaskForce 4774+1 launches Kaabay sa Kahimsog for all pupils in Iligan

Mayor Lawrence Lluch Cruz launch a feeding program dubbed "Kaabay sa Kahimsog" on August 15 for all pupils in 82 elementary schools of Iligan city.

This project will be undertaken in partnership with Task Force 4774+1 and the Office of city councilor Voltaire Rovira, chair of the committee on education. It will commence on September 2009.



A P2 million pesos is partially allocated for this project which will also involve and mobilize all Barangay Health Workers, Barangay Nutrition Scholars and the Parents Teachers Association (PTA).

This feeding program is part of the initiative to ensure the retention and reduce the incidence of drop outs of pupils in the elementary schools.

Cruz said that he intends to allocate P6 million for this program.

Education studes volunteer for remedial reading



A student-teacher from the College of Education of Mindanao State University-IIT, volunteered to help in the remedial reading program for frustrated readers in the elementary level to improve pupils' comprehension and understanding in English subject. This volunteering initiative is organized by Goodwill Mindanao Inc., a partner of local task force. This program is supported by the Office of Congressman Varf Belmonte and the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP).

Parents keenly listen to an orientation on responsible parenting for children in primary grade levels initiated by Goodwill Mindanao Inc., a partner of local task force for remedial reading program and of Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP). Their initiative was also supported by the Office of Congressman Varf Belmonte of the 1st District of Lanao del Norte and Iligan city.
